About
Family Promise of Tualatin Valley is a non-congregant shelter for families experiencing homelessness. We house over 50 families on site in Tigard, OR, where we also provide regular meals, cooked and served here in our kitchen.
Food preparation shifts run from either 1-4:30 or 2:30-5:30, when you'll be assisting our kitchen manager in cooking and preparing meals. Or you can volunteer to serve from 4:45-7:30 when you'll greet shelter guests, serve food, and help clean up. And a 5:30-7:30 shift is also available for helping to box up to-go orders and clean up. This is a fun way to get involved, get experience working in a kitchen, or bring a group of people together for team building.
Requirements: 18+ for kitchen work, with up to 1 teen per day over 16 helping in the dining room. To sign up, go to Volunteer — Family Promise of Tualatin Valley to contact us.
