Volunteer in Urgent Care in Vancouver
Listed by Kaiser Permanente NW
About
We seek students to join our patients and staff at our Cascade Park Medical Office. Primarily seeking students able to commit to one weekly shift supporting Urgent Care. This opportunity requires consistent weekly commitment for 6 months.
Urgent Care is a dynamic environment where patients are facing immediate life-threatening symptoms or injuries, but cannot wait to see their Primary Care provider. Every day is different and patients arrive in discomfort and distress, hoping to receive help. Volunteers offer comfort items to patients, assist in wayfinding and escorting throughout the facility, and connect directly to the nursing team for restocking and medical kit-making.
Volunteers will practice active listening, hand hygiene, and learn professional boundaries in a health care setting. Gain skills in restocking and identifying medical supplies. Exposure to nursing and medical assisting professions.
Biggest need is weekdays between 9am-5pm, which shifts starting at 9am and 1pm. Evenings and weekends available once a volunteer has training and hours on the clinic floor.
If you are interested, please be in touch or contact Volunteer Program Manager Randi Orth: randi.orth@kp.org
