Experiential Learning is a curriculum-based, faculty-designed, culturally-responsive holistic learning opportunity, in which instructors intentionally engage students in direct experience and guided reflection on that experience.
Our Curricular Experiential Learning Programs include:
- Community Based Learning is a teaching method that integrates reciprocal partnerships, community engagement, and critical reflection to meet institutional and course outcomes while developing individual, civic, and social responsibility. CBL courses combine academic coursework with experience to collaboratively address challenges facing communities. CBL students engage with a community partner organization as part of a class they are taking at PCC.
- Cooperative Education is a program that allows you to practice skills you have learned in the classroom in a real job setting. Credit can be earned by participating in structured learning based at a worksite related to your major area of study. It is a coordinated effort between a student, the college, and an employer to prepare a student for employment.
- Education Abroad is a study abroad experience where students have a chance to complete a PCC course with a PCC faculty in a foreign country. This experience can help further student professional, academic, and personal goals while traveling abroad and develop valuable skills.
