About
The mission of ALS Northwest is to provide comprehensive support and advocacy for people with ALS and their families, while advancing research for new treatments and an end to ALS. As the only ALS-specific organization serving Oregon and Southwest Washington, we serve about 600 families annually. ALS Northwest is the central source of services and education for people with ALS, their families and caregivers, and healthcare professionals. We respond to the needs of people with ALS through wraparound care services, including home visits and case management; loaned medical equipment; communication technology and trainings; multidisciplinary ALS clinics; and support groups. To address the ripple effect on family caregivers, we also provide caregiver support groups, bi-annual caregiver trainings, bereavement services, and volunteer assistance. Lastly, we provide ongoing education through direct outreach and a digital library to increase understanding of this rare disease across our service area.
