Providence Community Connection/Volunteer Opportunities

Family Friends Program: This programs purpose is to provide support for children and the families of children who experience a range of cognitive and/or physical challenges.

Kids Day Out:

Volunteers spend a few fun-filled hours playing with kids and providing needed respite for parents. This event is a wonderful, bonding event for volunteer groups, but can also be done on an individual level as well. Providence provides the kids, space and activities. Volunteers provide the manpower. Have fun ideas for a Kids Day Out event? Let's work together and make it happen

Caregiver Support Group Childcare:

Each month, our Family Friends program hosts a Caregiver Support Group for parents of children who experience a disability. Volunteers are needed for childcare, one Friday per month for two-three hours. This opportunity would most suit an individual student rather than a large group.

Older Adults Program: This program exists to support older adults within Newberg and Sherwood to live independently for as long as reasonably possible.

Volunteers help us accomplish this in two ways:

1. Driving older adults to appointments, grocery stores, etc.

2. Helping assigned older adult with minor home repairs, yardwork, window washing, light household chores and friendly visiting.

Faith in Action also organizes Neighbor 2 Neighbor Day:

Held in May each year, this is an opportunity for the entire community to come together, in groups large and small, to help the older adults in our own backyards keep up with their yards.
